JMAC Resources is heavy civil construction company supporting oil and gas development activities in the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford, and North Dakota fields. In addition, JMAC affiliates provide industrial fresh water, environmental, and materials solutions. JMAC is growing its teams in the Permian and Eagle Ford fields and is looking for an experienced safety professional interested in a unique opportunity as a part of JMAC’s leadership team developing JMAC’s Texas teams and operations and strengthening JMAC’s company-wide HSE program. A key corporate priority is the attainment of best in class safety performance and the development of a strong safety culture as stated in its corporate value “People First, Safety Always”. The Safety Manager, Texas/New Mexico, in collaboration with other Safety personnel throughout the organization, will implement, monitor, and lead a continuously improving Health Safety and Environmental program resulting in a strong Safety Culture and supporting Safety programs. The Safety Manager will work closely with JMAC leadership and crews. Programs will address safety leadership, training, continuous improvement, risk assessment and mitigation, communication, roles, accountability, metrics, and leading indicators. Successful outcomes will include engaged leaders and crews and improved results year over year.
  • Lead development of a sustainable safety culture by conducting activities and programs that build an engaged and equipped team reflecting JMAC’s People First, Safety Always value.
  • Examples of this include working closely with teams to identify risks/mitigations; providing recognition for good performance; providing ongoing feedback/coaching to improve performance; utilizing good communication practice; etc
  • Ensure understanding and execution around JMAC HSE programs and policies.
  • This includes conducting site visits/audits; participation in project planning activities; monitoring programs e.g. BBS, JSAs, permits, SSE, Stop Work Authority, incident reporting, case management, and other practices; etc.
  • Establish strong working relationships with customer HSE teams and ensure compliance with customer requirements.
  • Conduct activities regarding JMAC safety programs and policies that require direct Safety leadership or participation.
  • Examples of these include conducting new hire practices; providing training according to the annual Safety training plan; planning and executing regular safety meetings.
  • Maintain JMAC safety data in customer portals (ISNetworld, PEC, etc); maintain safety metrics and reports; report to state Workers Compensation departments; report to company insurance providers; etc.
  • Be the lead/point of contact in incident responses and investigations. Travel to the incident site whenever possible as needed. Conduct effective investigations that lead to accurate assessments of contributing factors and continuous improvement actions
  • Monitor action items to ensure completion. Ensure effective use of case management for the health and welfare of employees. Ensure timely communication to JMAC leadership. Ensure documentation and reporting requirements are met.
  • Offer leadership and technical guidance regarding Safety best practices and regulatory requirements such as for OSHA.
  • Other special projects as assigned including providing support for operations projects outside of safety specific needs.
  • Position is based in Texas. Position will be responsible for both Permian and Eagle Ford fields
  • Minimum 5 years HSE field experience
  • Demonstrated expertise in safety leadership, regulatory requirements, and HSE best methods
  • Experience with oil development service work and civil construction activities and equipment
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and solve problems in a dynamic environment
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesize information and research, learn, and leverage resources around HSE regulatory and best practice information

  • Demonstrated commitment to quality and customer satisfaction
  • Good skills using Microsoft Office, computers and other technology
  • Licensed to drive light duty vehicles and in good standing per JMAC policy
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree in Safety and Health preferred but not required
  • Recognized national safety certification (CSP, ASP, CSHO, etc.) preferred by not required
